Project Overview

Blind dating can be intimidating to say the least. What if you could control your "first" impression! This app allows you to process and eliminate through the basics before the date.

This was a project I designed for a competition within Match Group during my internship at OKCupid.

Logo

The concept behind the logo consisted of 3 things: elegance, legibility, and simplicity. I wanted it to stand out but still be clean  and memorable. The blend of abstract forms with the structured type provided just that.

Onboarding

"Making Reservations"

The onboarding process is one of the first impressions new users have. They are introduced to the product for the first time. This process helps the users understand the product because if people do not understand your app, they will not use it! Successful onboarding can directly impact engagement and performance for the users and the product. Users get to know other users while our product serves as the “middle man.” For a dating app like this, onboarding is crucial. Our database matches individuals according to the information provided. We make the Q&A’s engaging and underwhelming. To ensure users integrate seamlessly into the application, this process doubles in highlighting key features. The product tours and banners help point out core information.

Questions include things like gender, residing state, age, and number of kids. Further into the product, we ask about your interest to provide the best matches!

Speed Cycle

The idea behind the names for each round is an actual date set up. After onboarding or “making your reservations” it is time to wine and dine. At any restaurant you start off with appetizers followed by your entrees and then finish off with dessert.

Round 3: Dessert

The Reveal

The user can decide to keep going round by round by double tapping the selected profile, at any stage if the user does not like what they see, it is a swipe up to pass!

Rounds

Round 1: Appetizer

Substance

The user is given a little bit of information about the hopeful connection. It’s a little taste of the user just like the appetizers before the meal.

Round 2: Entree

Deal Breaker Q&A's

These are random system generated questions that both parties answer in real time. Each party can view the other person's answers to see if anything is a deal breaker

Round 3: Dessert

The Reveal

If the user decides that the connection should further be discovered, the pictures of the user will finally be visible! If they make it past Round 3, the profile gets a "Seat at the table" which is equivalent to your timeline/feed to further your connection!

Let’s Talk Money

Monetizing the app was an area I also focused on. There were so many opportunities to integrate revenue successfully.

- DATES

NOTSOBLIND Hosted 2 dates each month called "Second Impression."

Users are in a safe space of people they have chosen to connect with.

- $1 ON 1

NOTSOBLIND plans a date for two! You can request a date planned by the company's dating experts.

- BETWEEN ROUNDS

Sponsored Pop-Ups/Ads

- FEATURES

Paid features are signified by "$." For example, “$ Peek-A-Boo” which is a paid feature that allows users to jump the gun and see individuals as you get to know them.
